When we ordered our Anderson windows from Home Depot, we opted not to get the standard built in jambs because our walls are wider than the standard 4 inches. They did have an option for 6-inch walls, but we couldn't figure out whether that included the drywall or not, and of course, it wouldn't work for the 8-inch walls either. So, we got them without which makes more work for us because now we have to build them. Last week Hal made the ones for the awning window that our king size bed will be placed under. He originally bought clear pine, but it was ridiculously expensive so he's now going with number 2 pine and carefully selecting each board to avoid bad knots and blemishes. He measured, cut, dry fit and then I stained, put on 3 coats of water-based polyurethane and then he installed them.
I have to fill the nail holes with wood filler and stain them now, but I think it came out rather well.

Next up will be the trim which we are going to do in white. I've already primed and painted those.
